About Us

Hi — we’re Mackenzie and Joe.

Chaz LaRue began in 2022 in our 800-square-foot beach house in Southern California. Mackenzie had just left her long-term job with an idea she couldn’t ignore.  Joe backed the leap. What started at our kitchen table — sketches, samples, folding market tables — slowly became something real.

Now we’re parents. Life is fuller, louder, more in motion. That’s exactly who we design for. Our women wear our bags because they go to the market, meet friends on the go, run to the gym, all in one day. In the midst of these sometimes mundane moments, play, movement, and fun are always present.

Our first bag, Jackie, is named after Mackenzie’s grandmother, who once reupholstered a chair in worn denim jeans — no blueprint, just creativity and instinct. That spirit lives inside Chaz LaRue.
